Chestnut, American
$15.00
Indigenous to the Eastern United States, but presently rare due to the blight of the early 1900's, American Chestnut has a relatively low Janka hardness of 540. Interestingly, along with the "softer" Poplar, this species was abundant and heavily relied upon for building material, proving to be uniquely durable.
Our inventory consists of one single salvaged burl from a back yard on Georgia Street in down town Tallahassee.
