Mulberry
Mulberry is native to Eastern North America and has a Janka hardness o
f 1,680. It's heartwood is golden brown, darkening to a medium/reddish brown with age. Sapwood is a pale yellowish white. Overall appearance is very similar to Osage Orange, though Mulberry tends to be significantly lighter.
Mulberry is rated as very durable with good insect resistance and weathering properties.
*FUN FACT* The leaves of White Mulberry are also the primary food source for the silkworm, which is used to produce silk.

Our salvages are from downtown Tallahassee, near Doak Campbell Stadium. The trees were very lumpy and bumpy and the logs yielded very lively edges and highly charactered figure.
